Welcome to Durham Region!
The Regional Municipality of Durham is the largest geographic region in the Greater Golden Horseshoe. It encompasses the cities of Oshawa and Pickering; the towns of Ajax and Whitby; the Municipality of Clarington; and the townships of Brock, Scugog and Uxbridge. Our region is characterized by a series of major lakeshore urban communities contrasting a variety of small towns, hamlets and villages. We are proud of our diverse economic base and balanced representation in key sector areas, including advanced manufacturing, agri-business, energy and tourism.
As an 'emerging power' in the Greater Toronto Area, Durham Region has one of the fastest growing populations in Canada with approximately 600,000 residents in 2006 and a forecasted population of around one million people by 2031. This growth positions Durham as a dynamic region with ample labour force for business expansion and relocation.
